Day 27: A Song You Wish You Could Play (November 27, 2014)

Day 27: A Song You Wish You Could Play

There is a song that I have been trying to play for a few months now and every time that I think I am somewhat close it just falls apart. It is a song that is my number one song that I wish I could have written and made my own. It is a song that really made me want to learn how to play the piano in the first place. Hunter Hayes who is one of my biggest musical influences came out with a song that is on his sophomore album and it is just an amazing song. “Invisible” is a song that Hunter Hayes wrote about his personal life and being bullied. This is a song of hope and it is a song that I know has helped a lot of people. The message is powerful and I wish I would have had the opportunity to see him perform this live a few weeks ago in St. Louis, but sadly it was cancelled. Hunter Hayes has been one of the biggest musical influences and still holds a place on that list. This song, “Invisible” is a song that I am glad was released and I am definitely glad that this song was written, by such a talented artist.

“So your confidence is quiet, to them quiet looks like weakness. But you don’t have to fight it. ‘Cause you’re strong enough to win without a war. Every heart has a rhythm, let yours beat out so loudly. That everyone can hear it. Yeah, I promise you don’t need to hide it anymore. Oh, and never be afraid of doing something different. Dare to be something more. Trust the one. Who’s been where you are wishing all it was, was sticks and stones. Yeah, the words cut deep but they don’t mean you’re all alone and you’re not invisible. Hear me out, there’s so much more of this life than what you’re feeling now. And someday you’ll look back on all these days and all this pain is gonna be invisible. These labels that they give you just ’cause they don’t understand. If you look past this moment, you’ll see you’ve got a friend. Waving a flag for who you are and all you’re gonna do.  Yeah, so here’s to you and here’s to anyone who’s ever felt invisible.”

Day 26: A Song That You Can Play on an Instrument (November 26, 2014)

Day 26: A Song That You Can Play on an Instrument

I have recently learned how to play the piano in the past year and it is just one heck of a learning experience that I know will help grow as a musician and also will help me learn how to write my own music. I just recently learned one of my favorite songs on the piano that I am so excited for because I hope to record my own rendition of “Stars” by Grace Potter and the Nocturnals. It is probably one of those songs that I wish I could have written because it has so much emotion in the lyrics and the song itself is powerful, especially in the chorus. I feel like the verses are powerful in the lyrics, it is a silent killer, then the chorus just comes in with the power and the “punch in the stomach” feeling because the song as a whole is just powerful. I take the song and the lyrics as, someone who meant a lot to you at some point and now they just are not around, either they just left or they passed on. So you remember all these good times you had together and one of those moments was looking up at the sky and just looking at the stars. But now it just hurts because they are not their and looking at the stars just brings back all the memories and the reassurance that they are no longer there. I love this song so much and I cannot wait to show my Youtube fans and everyone else my rendition of this song.

“All those times we looked up at the sky. Looking out so far, it felt like we could fly. And now I’m all alone in the dark of night. And the moon is shining, but I can’t see the light. And I can’t look at the stars, they make me wonder where you are. Stars, up on heaven’s boulevard. And if I know you at all, I know you’ve gone too far. So I, I can’t look at the stars.”

Day 25: A Song That Makes You Laugh (November 25, 2014)

Day 25: A Song That Makes You Laugh

This one was a tough one I seriously could not think of any song out there that makes me laugh. So I had to do some research and the more I looked the more harder this became. So I thought back to some of my favorite television shows and so I decided to pick the song “I Am Your Brother” by Renaldo Lapuz from Season 7 of American Idol. For anyone who needs a reminder of this genius track, here a video to help remind y’all:

This is just a funny audition and I actually loved it because it was so entertaining and funny lol

Day 24 : A Song That You Want To Play at Your Funeral (November 25, 2014)

Day 24 : A Song That You Want To Play at Your Funeral

I kind of hate to think about this already, but I mean one never knows in life when something will happen. I dislike this challenge, which is why I actually am a day behind, but I will be posting the other one that is for today right after this blog post. So the song that I decided on was Gwyneth Paltrow’s Oscar nominated song, “Coming Home” from the film Country Strong. I really love this song, I always have ever since the film came out back in 2010.

I just really love the message of the song how it is coming home to something greater, a place where the pain and the hurt won’t find you anymore because you are in a better place, better than Earth could ever provide. I just love the lyrics in this entire song, the ones that get me the most are:

“Well they say it’s where the heart is and I guess the hardest part is. When your heart is broken and you’re lost out in the great wide open. Looking for a map, for finding your way back. To where you belong. Oh well that’s where I belong. Home, the world tried to break me I found a road to take me.  Home, there ain’t nothing but a blue sky now. After all of my running I’m finally coming… Home.”

I mean to me that just says it all and if I was to pass away I would like this song to be played somewhere in my wedding.

Day 23: A Song That You Want To Play At Your Wedding (November 23, 2014)

Day 23: A Song That You Want To Play At Your Wedding

This one was a hard topic for me because I honestly have never thought about it much. Like the whole getting married thing, I have thought about how it might be one day, but music was surprisingly something I did not even think about yet. I have been thinking a lot in the past hour about what song would be perfect, or just a song that I would love to be played and I came up with “Look at Me” by Carrie Underwood. It is just such a beautifully written song and the way that Carrie Underwood delivers it is perfection. I honestly could see this being either the song we walk down the aisle to or even the song that we dance too. All I know is after hearing it I must have this song played somewhere, sometime during my wedding.

“I don’t know what it is that makes me fall like this. First time in your arms, I knew the way you held me, I knew that this could be. What I’ve been waiting to find. Darling, look at me. I’ve fallen like a fool for you. Darling, can’t you see, I’d do anything you want me to. I tell myself I’m getting in to deep. Then I fall a little farther. Every time you look at me”

Day 22 : A Song That You Work Out Too (November 22, 2014)

Day 22 : A Song That You Work Out Too

I have been starting to go running again so it is a tough habit to start once you stop. But there is one song that I go to for not only motivation to exercise, but studying and just life when I need a push. It all began when one of my best friends started college and they are a year older than me so I was still in high school at this time. I took notes and honestly they were so right about this song being the motivation song for everything. “Eye of the Tiger” by Survivor. It just motivates me so much and honestly I am guilty of shouting this song at the top of my lungs when no one is around just so I can get super pumped for whatever is about to be taken out lol

“Rising up, straight to the top. Had the guts, got the glory. Went the distance, now I’m not gonna stop. Just a man and his will to survive. It’s the eye of the tiger. It’s the thrill of the fight. Rising up to the challenge of our rival. And the last known survivor. Stalks his prey in the night. And he’s watching us all with the eye of the tiger.”

I hope you feel motivated when you listen to this song, seriously crank up whatever it is you listen to music on and just feel ready to take on anything.

Day 21: A Song You Listen To When You Are Upset (November 21, 2014)

Day 21: A Song You Listen To When You Are Upset

Today’s category was a piece of cake for me because there is one song I have been going to for moments like this. The song is called “The Sun Is Rising” and it is by Britt Nicole. This song is an uplifting song that is kind of just perfection when it comes to moments of weakness in your life when the world is just beating you down or life is just too much. This is a song full of hope that I am so thankful for because it just gives me an outlook to believe that there is so much more when when we look past the darkness and just hang on til the sun comes up the next morning. Because life goes on and it is our job to keep believing that tomorrow is going to get better and we have the power in our hands to make that happen. God is always there with us, He never left us even when we feel like He has, He hasn’t.

“When life has cut too deep and left you hurting. The future you had hoped for is now burning. And the dreams you held so tight lost their meaning. And you don’t know if you’ll ever find the healing. You’re gonna make it. You’re gonna make it and the night can only last for so long. Whatever you’re facing. If your heart is breaking. There’s a promise for the ones who just hold on. Lift up your eyes and see, the sun is rising. Even when you can’t imagine how. How you’re ever gonna find your way out. Even when you’re drowning in your doubt. Just look beyond the clouds.”

I hope that this song can be helpful to someone in the way it has helped me. Sure life still has it’s moments, but with great friends and a faith in knowing that God is never gone and also having songs like this to lift you up, you know that life will continue to be okay, even with all the bumps and curves in the road. Because the sun is rising
